MUSIC AT MEMORIAL

2012-2013 Concert and Events Calendar

Master Class Series | Music, Media & Culture Lecture Series

Dynamic! Diverse! Dramatic!

Our 2012-13 season is truly dynamic, diverse and dramatic! Experience two of the early 20th century's classics presented with dance, visual art, and narration. Pierrot lunaire and L'Histoire du soldat are still daring and provocative works after 100 years. Enjoy a wide range of classical and contemporary offerings from Canada, Armenia and the European tradition with concerts by national and international guests like Duo Harboyan-Tuach, TorQ percussion quartet, and Quasar saxophone quartet. Faculty artists present excellence in art music from Bach to the future! Duo Concertante perform the complete works for violin and keyboard by J.S. Bach. Faculty composer Andrew Staniland launches the ARC-16 digital controller, developed in the state-of-the-art Memorial Electro-Acoustic Music Laboratory. We celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Newfound Music Festival with a tribute to its founder, Clark Ross, and with special composer-in-residence John Beckwith. Cap it all off with The Honorary Docs - a special concert by Newfoundland folk music legends Anita Best, Pamela Morgan and Sandy Morris.

Music at Memorial offers 31 concerts and much more! Take advantage of public master classes with world renowned musicians, and join us at the Research Centre for Music, Media and Place to hear stimulating lectures by an international array of music scholars.
