Welcome to Memorial University’s Fall Festival for band musicians! This festival is a celebration of band playing and pedagogy, and if you play any band instrument at all - whether you've been playing for one year or twenty - this day has something for you. In addition to excellent local faculty, we will have celebrated international trumpet soloist Jens Lindemann (www.trumpetjens.com).

This year’s festival will include a wide variety of sessions and music making opportunities culminating in a special concert featuring Jens Lindemann at 8pm! Potential session topics include mindfulness for musicians, ensemble workshops, auditioning for university, and performance psychology.

If you are a music educator of any kind we would love to welcome you to the festival. You are more than welcome to participate in all workshops and ask our expert clinicians your most pressing questions.

To register, please complete the Online Application Form. We will also need a completed Consent Form, signed by parents/guardians for all applicants under age 18 and a Media Consent Form for applications 18 and older.

Registrations will be accepted on the day of the event but early submissions are appreciated to help us plan. The registration fee is $30 for students/seniors and $35 for adults. It is due at Wind Brass Percussion Fest and covers all sessions including the evening concert. Please make cheques payable to Memorial University. Feel free to contact us in advance at fest2016@mun.ca if you need a fee waiver in order to attend.

FAQ:

What levels of players are welcome to attend?
All levels! If you play or teach any band instrument, this day will have something for you. This festival is open to all interested students, community members, and teachers.

Will lunch or snacks be provided?
No. Participants should pack a healthy lunch and two healthy snacks for our morning and afternoon nutrition breaks. There is a water bottle filling station in the School of Music. There are almost no food services available on the Memorial campus on Saturday's, so a packed lunch is really the way to go!

How will my child be supervised at Wind Brass Percussion Fest?
While in workshops and rehearsals your child will be under the supervision of the workshop leader. At lunch and on nutrition breaks we will be monitoring participants, but we will not be providing continuous supervision. If you have concerns about your child’s participation in the day, consider attending for all or part of it with your child.

I’m an adult player. Is this day just for kids?
Not at all! The workshop sessions are targeted to different levels of development, and more experienced and mature musicians are welcome in the senior workshops.

Allergy Alert!
Please do not pack nuts in lunches or snacks, as there are many individuals with serious allergies to tree nuts. Please also refrain from wearing scented products (including hand creams, shampoos, and other personal grooming products) into the School. Memorial is a scent-free campus.
