As previously indicated by the Negotiating Committee, the Conciliator has filed his report with the Minister of Labour and on July 14, MUNFA was in a position to launch a legal strike. While we hope that the University will recognize the need to negotiate a new collective agreement, we must prepare for a strike should the administration remain intransigent and refuse to treat academic staff members fairly and equitably.
In the coming weeks, MUNFA's Job Action Committee will be asking members to volunteer for strike-related duties. We expect to conduct a strike vote shortly after the start of the Fall semester, and upon a positive result, we will be preparing for a strike.
We will be issuing a series of Information Bulletins containing information about policies and procedures for the strike vote, and for the strike itself
