On 28 November 2006 members of the MUNFA Executive met with Dr. Reeta Tremblay, Dean, Faculty of Arts to discuss the Office of the Dean's efforts to change the research climate within the Faculty of Arts.
MUNFA members should note that Clauses 11.19(b) and 12.16(b) of the Collective Agreement specify the broad range of activities that can be considered as research for the purposes of tenure and promotion. These clauses do not privilege any particular research activity.
MUNFA members should further note that any decisions about research activities, including applications for any type of external research grants, are the prerogative of individual faculty members as a matter of their academic freedom.
