Adm. Hist/Bio. Sketch: The Marketing Administration Committee (MAC), a Newfoundland agency, was established in 1943 to coordinate the fish quotas determined by the Combined Food Board, established by the Allied powers in World War II. The quotas were divided among the Portugal Exporters Group (PEG), Spain Exporters Group (SEAL), West Indies Codfish Association, and the Puerto Rico Exporters Group. MAC was replaced by the Newfoundland Associated Fish Exporters Limited (NAFEL) in 1947.
Scope and Content: Fonds consists of corporate records of MAC from 1943-48.These include various subject files, correspondence, production records and records from the Combined Food Board, including recommendations for the purchase and allocations of yearly salt fish production, and quotas for production listed by country. The fonds also includes revenue and expense account sheets.
     Fonds is arranged in three series: 1. Subject files, 1943-48; 2. Correspondence, 1945-47; 3. Production records, 1943-47.

Custodial History: The records were acquired with the Newfoundland Associated Fish Exporters Limited (NAFEL) fonds in 1971. When the NAFEL fonds was rearranged in 1995, the Marketing Administration Committee fonds was described separately.
