Adm. Hist/Bio. Sketch: E. Batson was a general dealership owned by Elizah Batson of Trinity. The company sold dry goods, groceries, boots, hardware and provisions. The business operated in the Commercial Stores location and afterwards in the premises of Ericksons, It continued in this location until it closed operations. Today the building is owned by Christene Whelan as is used to operate a Bed and Breakfast.
Scope and Content: The fonds consists of the financial records used to carry on the business of E. Batson from 1934-1955. It includes: daybooks, which contain the original entry of business; ledgers, which are indexed by customer and/or supplier; and memo books, which contain information on various individual accounts; and cash receipt books. Also included with this fonds are two account books, invoices and correspondence for the business of G.W. Gent, 1912-1916.
