Adm. Hist/Bio. Sketch: The naval office shipping lists were compiled by the naval officers in the British colonies, in North America and the West Indies and sent, usually every three months, by the Governor of the Colony, to England.
Scope and Content: List of vessels clearing inwards and outwards for the ports of Boston, Salem and Marblehead, Massachusetts, 1686-1765. The lists give the name of the vessel, the name of the master, rig, tonnage, number of guns and men, cargo, where from and whither bound.
