Adm. Hist/Bio. Sketch: In 1949 the Canada Coast Guard took over some of the functions of the Newfoundland Mercantile Marine Office. Crew agreements which had previously been deposited with the office were transferred to the Coast Guard. They were subsequently deposited at the Provincial Archives of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Scope and Content: Agreements and Account of Crew for Newfoundland registered vessels whose voyages terminated in Newfoundland. For each vessel and voyage the agreements give the names of officers and seamen, date and place of birth; date/place of joining/leaving the vessel; previous vessel; wages; description of the vessel and ports of call. Includes agreements for banking schooners. Form issued by the British Registrar of Shipping and Seamen.
