Farber 93, in 1800 interests in 4 ships, by 1805 12 ships, by 1810 due to embargo 9 ships, After the repeal of the embargo "the crowninshields never revived their old East India Trade...In a haphazard fashion they experimented with a variety of ventures to many European ports. . . . The firm dissolved in June 1809, with Richard and John each becoming independent operators. The two Georges and Benjamin W. remained together and sustanined a reduced commerce" Whitney(p 117) in Faber p. 93-4
