    Memorial awards its first Doctor of Philosophy degrees. The recipients were Dr. Helen Elizabeth Bradbury, biology, and Dr. Leona Marie Doerksen, english.

Student Life

  • November 1970
    Memorial's men's soccer team won the 1970-71 A.I.A.A. Soccer Conference Championship. Alan Ross was of the coach of the team. The team also won the Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union Soccer Championship.

    Memorial's women's field hockey team won the 1970-71 A.I.A.A. Intermediate Field Hockey Championship.

    Dr. John S. Foster, Jr., gave the F.W. Angel lecture entitled "The Role of Universities in Public service."

    Memorial awards its first bachelor of social work degrees. The graduates were Jean Brown and Elaine Duggan.
