Getting here - Marine Institute

Marine Institute

Travelling by plane to St. John’s – St. John’s is home to an international airport that serves all the airlines flying in and out of the province. The airport is only a 10-minute drive from the university (a $20 taxi ride).

You can arrange a flight to Newfoundland from many airports around the world. A flight from London, England to St. John’s takes about five hours and from Vancouver, it would take approximately eight hours.

From the airport - Leaving the airport, turn left onto Portugal Cove Rd, go through one set of lights and at the next turn right onto Higgins Line. Go up the hill and turn right at the next lights onto Ridge Road. The Marine Institute is located on your left.

Travelling by ferry to Argentia — Once the ferry docks in Argentia, you can take Route 100 past the communities of Dunville and Freshwater. This route meets the Trans-Canada Highway — drive east on the TCH to St. John’s.

From the Trans Canada Highway – Driving east on the TCH, take the exit labeled Allandale Rd. Turn right at the yield sign, then left at the first intersection onto Ridge Rd. The Marine Institute is the first building on your right.

Travelling on the bus – The province’s private bus line makes regular stops at the Smallwood Centre to pick up and drop off students from out of town.
