Create new pages (regular instance)
To create a new page in Site Builder click "Create New Page".
This will take you to the "Manage Content, Add Content" page. This page has the following blank text fields:
These fields are where you enter the content for your site. All fields should be filled out; the "Related Links", "Meta elements" and "Share Buttons" fields are optional.
If there is no content in the content field, or you do not choose a file name, you will receive an error message when you click "Publish" or "Save Draft". Site Builder will prompt you to fix these errors.
Use intuitive file names (try and use name similar to title of page for easy future editing.) The .php extension is included by default.
Templates: Site Builder offers three templates for your site. The default is a three column design, including a place for "Departmental Links" (links that can be site wide, depending on what section you place them in) and "Related Links" (links that are entered on each individual page and are unique to that page) on the right side of the page. The second and third templates do not allow for Departmental or Related links. The third template allows you more room in the content area. All three templates still have left hand navigation.
See Departmental links for more information.
Editor and Content: Content is the actual text, video and images that appear on your page. Site Builder has a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor for easy web page creation. No knowledge of HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is needed to use it. Simply enter your text and photos and format using the editor. The editor is similar to a word processor such as Microsoft Word or Corel WordPerfect. See a more detailed explanation of the Editor here.
Related Links (optional): "Related Links" allows you to add links to pages related to the content of a single page. You can highlight relevant pages within your site or point to interesting external sites or useful files. The links will appear on the top-right of the finished page. At the bottom of the page you will see a green plus sign and the text "add related link". Click that and you will see text fields called "Hyperlink Text" and "URL". Type or paste the text you want to appear in the left space and then insert the URL (including http://) in the space at the right. Repeat for each link that you want to add.
Meta Elements (optional): You can add keywords and a concise description of the content on your page that could aid in search engine results.
Publish or Save Draft Your final step will be to publish or save a draft of the page you have created. Once your page is published or a draft is saved you will be taken to the "Manage Content" section of Site Builder. Your new page will be listed there.
