In response to receiving generous donations from some passengers, Memorial University has established the September 11, 2001, International Travel Bursary Fund which will assist students from other countries to travel to Memorial University for studies. The university intends that this bursary will be a perpetual memorial to those who died in the tragic events of that day, while it also fosters international relations.
