REF NO.: 73

SUBJECT: PSA SWGC: GCSU Environmental Affairs Committee to hold peaceful protest

DATE: Oct. 28,2005

The Environmental Affairs Committee is planning a peaceful protest on Monday, Oct. 31 against the Mill's plan to start burning tires.

The protest will start at 12 p.m. in the GCSU Food Court from where the protesters will meet and march down to the mill, present a petition, demand that more research be done, and raise awareness of the issue publicly.

“Hopefully (we’ll) make them change their minds,” said Jennifer Brown, GCSU VP External. “Please support this if you can, and bring your friends – the more people the better!”

An official petition has been set up at http://new.petitiononline.com/tires/petition.html for anyone who wishes to sign and support this student-driven initiative.
