Memorial University presents the next lecture in the Music, Media, and Culture series featuring distinguished Finnish ethnomusicologist, Dr. Pirkko Moisala (PEER- KO MOY-SA-LA). Her lecture is titled Meetings in Kaija Saariaho’s Music and will take place on Nov. 1, at 4:30 p.m. The lecture will be held in room 2025, School of Music, on Memorial’s St. John’s campus. The subject, Kaija Saariaho, is a leading contemporary Finnish composer who has been described as the new Sibelius. The 2000 premiere of her opera L’amour de Loin in Salzburggarnered enormous international acclaim.
