SUBJECT:	Memorial University's Department of Technical Services steps up to the plate

Hallmark Channel found Memorial University's Technical Services department when it went looking for someone to step up to the plate - the licence plate, that is. The World Wide Cable Network - whose head office is located in Los Angeles, California - was looking for a detailed vanity licence place with the iconic Hallmark crown logo planted squarely in the middle for a cable network commercial. Hallmark Channel came across the Web site of Memorial's Technical Services model making shop, and immediately made contact with the university.

Robert Sheppard, the director of Technical Services Department, said the job came in on a Monday via a drawing on e-mail, was converted to machine code for Technical Services' computerized machining centre and the finished product was air-mailed to Hallmark Channel on Thursday the same week.

The on-air promotion will begin airing on the Hallmark Channel in February.
