Jeffrey Simpson, national affairs columnist with the Globe and Mail, will deliver this year’s Galbraith Lecture titled Health vs. Higher Education: Must Higher Education Lose Out? The lecture will be held in the Cook Recital Hall, School of Music, on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 8 p.m., with a reception to follow. Mr. Simpson is the recipient of three of Canada’s leading literary prizes — the Governor-General’s award for non-fiction book writing, the National Magazine Award for political writing and the National Newspaper Award for column writing. In January 2000 he became an officer of the Order of Canada. He has been awarded honorary doctorates of laws from the University of British Columbia, the University of Western Ontario and the University of Manitoba. Free parking is available in Area 15 and $2 parking is available in Area 15B. The lecture is open to the public and there is no admission charge.
