SUBJECT: Memorial University course: poetry writing

Memorial University's Department of English language and Literature is offering English 3901 in the winter semester of 2003. This is a creative writing course in which students who write poetry are given the chance to write poems and to discuss them with other students and with an experienced poet and editor. The course runs as a workshop. Students learn to improve their craft by writing poems, commenting on others' poems, considering suggestions for editing and revision, reading a variety of poems. To gain entrance to the course, students are asked to provide a sample of about 10 poems, to show that they have been writing some poems.
