SUBJECT: Memorial’s School of Pharmacy celebrates Pharmacy Awareness Week March 6-11

DATE: March 7,2011

This week students, faculty and staff from the School of Pharmacy at Memorial University are celebrating Pharmacy Awareness Week. An annual week-long event, students across campus can join in to celebrate the pharmacy profession and learn more about the roles and influence pharmacists play in health care.
Pharmacy Awareness Week is a great opportunity to chat with pharmacy students and pharmacy professionals regarding the pharmacy program at Memorial University, health and wellness, careers and much more.
Pharmacy students from Memorial will visit local schools to promote the role of pharmacists in our community and the choice of pharmacy as a career.
“Getting out there in person to tell high school students what the pharmacy program is all about, is, well, what it’s all about,” said Angie Woodman, a pharmacy student in the class of 2014. “A lot of us are visiting the high schools we graduated from to let them know how great Memorial’s pharmacy program is.”
“It’s a hard program to get in to,” said fellow pharmacy student Travis Simms, also from the class of 2014. “But once you do, you are 100 per cent guaranteed of a good job when you graduate.”
“We are all here because of a desire to help others,” said Ms. Woodman. “And we’re very proud to be entering a profession that can directly impact the health of so many people.”
