SUBJECT: Memorial University business students plan conference with global appeal

DATE: Feb. 23,2011

Memorial business students and the business community will come together on Thursday, Feb. 24, to learn from prominent local business leaders at the 46th annual Business Day conference. Business Day began in 1965 when the graduating bachelor of commerce class planned a day-long conference to inspire students and connect with the business community.
Keynote presenter Nora Duke, president and CEO of Fortis Properties Corporation, headlines an impressive list of speakers, most of whom are Memorial business alumni. Presenters are as follows: John Patten, president, Browning Harvey Limited, Martin Sullivan, president and chief executive officer, Ocean Choice International, Jim Keating, vice president, oil and gas, Nalcor Energy (also a member of Memorial’s Board of Regents) and Dean MacDonald, CEO of Newport Partners Income Fund. Conference emcee is Kevin Casey, co-founder and chief idea officer at the Idea Factory.
Conference agenda and information on sponsors is available at www.munbusinessday.com.
Business Day 2011 takes place at the Sheraton St. John’s. This half-day event is scheduled from 8 a.m.–1 p.m.
Tickets are $60 or $35 for students and can be purchased via phone at (709) 864-8519 or by contacting the Business Day Committee at businessday2011@gmail.com.
