Last week, Memorial University President Dr. Axel Meisen formally presented the university's annual report to John Ottenheimer, minister of Youth Services and Post-Secondary Education. The President's Report 2002-2003 contains the university's complete audited financial statements and is also an overview of the university's accomplishments from the past year. The complete report is available online at A highlights brochure with a CD has also been printed for distribution. This year, the report's theme is Where We Are, which highlights the university's location and its progress. Highlights from the 2002-2003 university year include: an increase in enrolments; an increase in research funding which now exceeds $50 million; further funding for the $20 million Inco Innovation Centre; and the creation of a permanently endowed research chair with the support of Husky Energy Inc. The report also notes that 70 per cent of Memorial's graduates stay in the province. Copies of the report are available by calling 709-737-8663.
