SUBJECT: Dec. 6 Vigil to be held at Memorial University

In remembrance of the Montreal Massacre and in recognition of Canada's National Day of Remembrance and Action to End Violence Against Women, a vigil will be held at Memorial University on Friday, Dec. 5, starting at 6:30 p.m. in room EN-2006, located in the S.J. Carew Building (Engineering) on Memorial's St. John's campus.
Free parking is available in Areas 16 and 16A. Guest speakers include Dr. Axel Meisen, president of Memorial University; and Insp. Connie Snow, RNC and community representative, Sexual Harassment Board. There will be music by Kimberley Schemeit, flutist; Amber Milley; and Les Ms., under the direction of Dr. Valerie Long.
There will also be a performance of The December Monologues with Jill Bonnell, Nancy Cater, Danielle Finney, Amy Fudge, Julie Fudge, Lindsay Harding, Kelly Hickey, Jackie Hynes, Melissa Ivany, Deborah Kennedy, Madeleine Morton, Kaya Payne, Renee Sharpe and Lori Yetman. A candlelight procession will include representatives from engineering societies, Marine Institute Student Union, Memorial University Student Union, Graduate Student Union, Canadian Federation of Students, Women's Resource Centre, LBGT-MUN, and the Sexual Harassment Office.
