|DATE:||Nov. 21, 2003|
Memorial's basketball teams kick off their 2003-2004 home schedule Saturday night, and the game will be available for cable television subscribers across the province.
The men's and women's Sea-Hawks take to the court against St. Mary's University at the Field House starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22 and, as in past years, all of Memorial's Saturday night home stands will be broadcast live by the university's Distance Education and Learning Technologies division. They will provide the broadcast to provincial cable companies, Rogers Cable and Regional Cable who will make the games available to their subscribers. The broadcast will appear on Rogers Cable 9 in St. John's and the House of Assembly channel province-wide (check local listings for the channel number).
The broadcast is sponsored again this year by Memorial's Office of Student Recruitment.
Sheila Devine, director of Student Recruitment, is proud of the part her office is playing in the telecasts.
"All of us at the university are enormously supportive and proud of the Sea-Hawks," she said. "We will be cheering them on this season."
Ann Marie Vaughan, director of Distance Education, said they are excited to be back producing Sea-Hawks telecasts for another season.
"This is a real showcase for the talents and energy of our unit," she said.
