SUBJECT: Student Recruitment announces winners of Celebrate Memorial 2003 essay contest

As part of the Celebrate Memorial festivities, Oct. 14-25, 2003, Memorial's Office of Student Recruitment extended an invitation to Level III students throughout Newfoundland and Labrador to communicate their thoughts about MUN and the community. In keeping with this year's theme, Connecting to the Community, students were asked to write an essay on how Memorial has helped to position an individual graduate to give back to his/her community or how the university as a whole has or can contribute to the community.
The Office of Student Recruitment wishes to offer its congratulations to the following winners of the Celebrate Memorial 2003 essay contest: Chesley Ward of Menihek High School, Wabush; David Rumbolt of St. Mary's All Grade, Mary's Harbour; Amy Kennedy of Herdman Collegiate High School, Corner Brook; Kayla Matthews of St. James' Regional High, Port Aux Basques; Vanessa Colbourne of Long Island Academy, Beaumont; Sarah Robbins of Lumsden School Complex, Lumsden; Megan Beck of Swift Current Academy, Swift Current; Tara Snow of Carbonear Collegiate, Harbour Grace and Joseph Fitzgerald of St. Kevin's High School, St. John's. Each winner will receive a $300 prize.
Memorial and the Office of Student Recruitment would like to thank all those who participated in the essay contest, including distinguished judges, Shane O'Dea, English; Susan Pynn, English graduate and Mike Collins, honours English student.
