|SUBJECT:||Memorial's International Student Advising Office invites public to attend open house|
|DATE:||Oct. 18, 2003|
Memorial University's International Student Advising Office is celebrating its move to a new location and is inviting the public to an open house on Sunday, Oct. 19 from 5-8 p.m. as part of the Celebrate Memorial 2003 festivities. Light refreshments with an international flavour will be served. The new offices are located in the Corte Real building on the St. John's campus, adjacent to the Burton's Pond apartment complex.
Lillian Beresford, Memorial's international student advisor, said the office's new location is in a much better space. "Plus, it's right next to the Burton's Pond residences so international students will have more opportunities to interact with some of the students living in residence," she said.
The International Student Advising Office is an important resource for international students attending Memorial University. In addition to providing information and assistance with health insurance, housing, immigration procedures and multicultural events on campus, the office also works closely with multicultural organizations in St. John's to help students become more aware of resources within the larger community.
Celebrate Memorial is an annual festival of events celebrating the university's significant ties to the community of Newfoundland and Labrador. This year's celebrations are happening Oct. 14-25, with lectures, awards ceremonies and public events at both the St. John's and the Grenfell College campuses. A full calendar of Celebrate Memorial events is available at www.mun.ca/celebrate or by checking the events calendar at today.mun.ca.
