|SUBJECT:||Grenfell: Orientation 2009 challenges students to embrace change|
|DATE:||Aug. 6, 2009|
CORNER BROOK – Orientation 2009 is taking some cues from Grenfell College as the institution looks forward to greater autonomy within Memorial University.
“Orientation 2009 is all about embracing change and making connections,” said Nyasha Musandu, Student Affairs co-ordinator of Orientation 2009. “As our campus grows, we encourage our new students to experience personal growth during orientation week and beyond. They are embarking on a journey that will challenge them to grow, make new friends and become active members of their community.”
The theme of Orientation 2009 is Change…Connect…Become!” Entering or returning to university can be daunting; however, our orientation team has designed a program that will allow students to make valuable connections.
Orientation events include the Welcome Show, sexual health night, campus tours and the ever popular barbeque. This year the library will offer an interactive Gaming Night complete with computer games, food and entertainment.
Parents Orientation, held Sunday, Sept. 6, and Monday, Sept. 7, 1-3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre, will encourage parents to make their own connections and learn about their children’s new academic environment. Non-traditional Student Orientation will be held Thursday, Sept. 3, 1:30-3:30 p.m. in LC301.
