SUBJECT:	Significant funding announcement coming for Memorial University
DATE:	Aug. 6, 2009

      Dr. Christopher Loomis, president and vice-chancellor pro tempore of Memorial University of Newfoundland, along with Tony Clement, federal minister of Industry, and Dr. Eliot Phillipson, president and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation, will make a major funding announcement for ocean research at Memorial next week.
      A news conference will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 10:30 a.m., in the Challenger Room, second floor of Memorial’s Ocean Sciences Centre (OSC), located in Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove.
      Media agencies are invited to attend.
      Parking is available in the OSC parking lot.
