The committee mandated with finding the next president and vice-chancellor of Memorial University met last week (July 16) to receive a progress report on the search.
The briefing for Memorial’s Presidential Search Committee was provided by Janet Wright and Associates, the consulting firm that is co-ordinating the search.
The position has been advertised locally, nationally and internationally and candidate nominations have been sought from the university community and the general public.
“We are making progress,” said Bob Simmonds, chair of the search committee who also serves as chair of Memorial’s Board of Regents.
“Our efforts to engage the public and the university community in this search have been largely successful. They have resulted in a number of candidates being nominated and the receipt of applications for the position. We still have a lot of work to do as we build our list of potential candidates, then undertake analysis towards finding the top candidate. But I am very pleased with the results so far. We’re on schedule and progressing as we would have expected,” Mr. Simmonds said.
The Presidential Search Committee will receive its next progress report when it meets again in mid-September.
