SUBJECT: Shad Valley Open Day promises innovation and imagination for the future
DATE: July 23, 2003

Note to editors:

On Thursday, July 24, Memorial University will host Shad Valley's Open Day. Shad Valley is a four-week academic program for outstanding senior high school students. Open Day will include a showcase of the business concept development process and a variety of program highlights. Each group of students will display their idea and how they envisage its implementation. This will provide the opportunity to interact with Shad participants while observing live demonstrations of products and prototypes on demand. Other photo opportunities include an appearance by Loyola Hearn, MP.

Open Day will be held on Thursday, July 24 from 1-5 p.m. in the Junior Common Room at R. Gushue Hall, on Memorial University's St. John's campus. Media are invited to attend. Complimentary tickets will be made available for media who wish to attend a reception and closing banquet hosted by the Shad students. Reception and banquet will be held in the Main Dining Room, R. Gushue Hall from 6-8:30 p.m. Please RSVP to Cathy Hurdle, 737-3813, if you are interested in attending the banquet.
