Memorial University of Newfoundland is holding a special vigil next week on Dec. 6, 2007, to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, as well as the tragic anniversary of 1989’s Montreal Massacre.
A student candlelight procession, as well as special readings and reflections, will take place during the event, which is organized by the university’s Sexual Harassment Office and the Women’s Studies Department.
This year’s vigil takes place on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m. in the Engineering Building, room EN-2006, on the St. John’s campus.
The special guest speaker this year will be Connie Snow from the National Parole Board.
Free parking will be available in all lots marked 16 or 16A. A reception will follow.
