|SUBJECT:||Memorial University to hold annual university-wide career fair|
|DATE:||Sept. 26, 2002|
Memorial University of Newfoundland will hold its third university-wide career fair on Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on campus in the new Field House Complex, located in St. John's. Co-ordinated by Memorial University's Department of Career Development and Experiential Learning, the career fair will bring together students and 48 local, national and international employers.
"This is an exciting time for Career Development at Memorial University," said Robert Shea, director of Career Development and Experiential Learning. "Interest in our students and our university has never been higher - as evidenced by a sizable increase in the number of employers attending our fair."
Employer attendance is up 40 per cent over last year, and early indicators of student interest show a marked increase, predicting a similar jump in student attendance. "We are very excited about the growing success of our career fair, and we wish to thank the employers and students who take part," he said. "Particular thanks go to the Department of Youth Services and Post-Secondary Education, for their continued support," added Paul Smith, manager of the Co-operative Education Services Centre.
The goal of the event is to expose students to a variety of career opportunities. In addition, it will expose visiting exhibitors and potential employers to the quality programs and students that we have at Memorial University.
