As part of the Women's Experience of Reproductive Health in the Family project, Drs. Marilyn Porter, Sociology; Natalie Beausoleil, Community Health; and Phyllis Artiss, English, will be hosting two faculty members from Indonesia and three from Pakistan for the first two weeks of June.
There will be a public meeting, Women and Islam, held on Saturday, June 7 at 7 p.m. at The Lantern located at 35 Barnes Road. Guest speakers will be Dr. Anita Rahman, a specialist in women and religion at the University of Indonesia and Dr. Tahera Aftab, specialist in women's history at the University of Gettysburg. The meeting will be chaired by Sister Elizabeth Davis.
On Sunday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be a workshop on Women and Islam. It will be held in the Women's Studies Seminar Room, SN 4087, located in the Science Building on Memorial's St. John's campus. A light lunch will be provided.
Both events are free of charge and are open to the public.
