SUBJECT: Memorial University holds auditions next week for unique contest

Preparations are well underway for a unique contest at Memorial University of Newfoundland that’ll give away cold hard cash.
Auditions will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, for the university’s Rant Like Rick contest.
Students are encouraged to attend the auditions with a prepared rant for a chance to qualify for the grand prizes. They’ll be asked to present a rant on camera on a subject chosen by them. Rants should range between 30 and 90 seconds in length.
From those that audition, the top ten will qualify for what organizers are calling a “Rantastic death match….American Idol style,” set for Oct. 24 during Memorial’s annual fall celebrations – I Love MUNdays.
The contest is open to full-time students currently enrolled in the fall semester. The top three winners will be awarded $1000, $750, and $500, respectively.
Auditions take place on Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in room ED-1037A in the basement of the Education Building on Memorial’s St. John’s campus.
The Rant Like Rick contest is sponsored by Memorial’s Office of Student Recruitment.
