SUBJECT: Gardiner Centre director named
DATE: Sept. 20
A local business professional with extensive experience in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors has been named director of Memorial University’s Gardiner Centre.
Leigh Puddester was named to the role effective Sept. 11. Prior to joining Memorial, Mr. Puddester held senior leadership positions in a variety of industries and sectors with companies such as Aliant, Stratos Global, K&D Pratt Group and the Multi-Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB). Most recently, he was a deputy minister of Service N.L. and procurement reform at the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Mr. Puddester holds a bachelor of commerce (hons.) degree from Memorial and a master of business administration degree from Queen’s University.
“I am thrilled to become the new director of the Gardiner Centre,” said Mr. Puddester. “It’s a great organization and part of an excellent faculty and university. To have the opportunity to lead a team that is helping people improve their lives and helping businesses and other organizations in the community become more successful is not something that many people get to do. I’m quite proud to join the Gardiner Centre, the Faculty of Business Administration and Memorial University.”
The Gardiner Centre is an outreach unit of the Faculty of Business Administration at Memorial that offers management and professional development training to individuals and organizations in Newfoundland and Labrador. The centre develops and delivers programs that advance the business and leadership knowledge and skills of organizations as well as existing or aspiring supervisors, managers, executives and entrepreneurs.
“The Gardiner Centre is a vital link between Memorial, the business faculty and the community,” said Dr. Isabelle Dostaler, dean of the business faculty. “We’re delighted that Mr. Puddester has joined us to provide valuable leadership at a time when the centre is growing and its reputation for excellence is expanding beyond our provincial borders.”
