||Official opening of Memorial University's Advanced Computation and Visualization Centre

Tomorrow, June 13, Memorial University of Newfoundland will hold the official opening of its new Advanced Computation and Visualization Centre (CVC), which houses the most powerful research computer system in Atlantic Canada.
Dr. Chris Loomis, vice president (research and international relations), will host the event and will be joined by representatives from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, and the provincial government.
The CVC opening begins at 4 p.m. in room C2039 of the Chemistry Building, on Thursday, June 13, and will be followed by a tour of the facility and reception. Parking is available in lot 15.
The event will be of particular interest to business media. CVC staff will give demonstrations of the current and potential applications for high-performance computation and visualization hardware and software.
