Vigil to be held at Memorial University on Dec. 6 |

In remembrance of the Montreal Massacre and in recognition of Canada's
National Day of Remembrance and Action to End Violence Against Women,
Memorial University will host a remembrance vigil on Thursday, Dec. 6,
2001, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The vigil will be held in the Engineering Lecture
Theatre, Room EN-2006, located in the S.J. Carew (Engineering) Building.
Michelle Boutcher, St. John's Status of Women's Council, will act as Master
of Ceremonies and Inspector Connie Snow, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary,
will be a guest speaker. The vigil ceremony will also include musical
performances by Leslie Newman, visiting professor of flute at MUN School of
Music, and Jackie Sullivan, singer/guitarist. A candlelight procession with
representatives from the Memorial University Students' Union, the Graduate
Students' Union, and the Canadian federation of Students, the Women's
Resource Centre, Lesbians, Bisexual, Gay and Transgendered Folks at MUN,
and more, will commemorate the occasion. Members of the media are invited
to attend. Parking is available in Lot 16, next to the Smallwood Centre.
