Memorial University to host lifelong learning event for Harlow alumni and friends

Ref. No. 74

DATE:     Jan. 3, 2002
SUBJECT:     Memorial University to host lifelong learning event for Harlow alumni and friends

Note to editors:

Memorial University is hosting a special lifelong learning event for all Harlow alumni and friends on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002. Three of Newfoundland and Labrador's most respected and award winning authors, including Michael Crummey (B.A. '87) (author of River Thieves), Kevin Major (B.Sc., '76) (author of As Near to Heaven by Sea) and Dr. Bernice Morgan (D. Litt. '98) (author of Random Passage), will participate in an author's forum especially designed for Harlow alumni and friends.

Born from one Harlow student's insight that "the Harlow experience brings my books to life," the author's forum will give all Harlow alumni the opportunity to relive this powerful experience as the authors talk about their writing inspirations and aspirations, present readings, and sign copies of their books. Dr. Alan J. Perry, OBE, chairman of the Harlow Board of Trustees, will also be in attendance to talk about Harlow's redevelopment and exciting future.

This event gets underway at 7:30 p.m. in the D.F. Cook Recital Hall, located in the Music Building on Memorial's St. John's campus. Media agencies are encouraged to send representatives.
