Newfoundland heritage exhibit at Great Hall, Queen's College |
An exhibit titled New Views on an Old Heritage: A Student Exhibition on Newfoundland Objects is open at the Great Hall exhibition space at Queen's College, located on Memorial's St. John's campus. The exhibit was done by students in a Memorial-based course on museums and historic sites. Students were required to choose a topic on Newfoundland heritage that they felt was important, and were tasked with creating a section of the overall exhibition. Topics range from boatbuilding to housecleaning, berrypicking to a Brigus dress factory, from seal products to fishing techniques, knitting to sport fishing. The exhibit is open from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday and runs until May 1, 2002. The exhibition is presented by the Department of Folklore and the Archaeology Unit, Memorial University.
