Memorial University to hold entrance scholarship ceremony this afternoon |
A ceremony honouring the approximately 600 entrance scholars at Memorial's
St. John's campus will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, starting at 4:45
p.m. in the Robert G. Reid II Theatre, Arts and Administration Building.
In total, 615 entrance scholarships of $1,000 or greater are being awarded
to students attending Memorial University this year. Of these,
approximately 525 students are attending the St. John's campus (which
includes the 13 at the Marine Institute) and approximately 90 are studying
at Memorial's Sir Wilfred Grenfell College campus in Corner Brook.
Memorial President Dr. Axel Meisen will host the proceedings, which
include calling on provincial government representatives, including Gerald
Smith, minister of Human Resources and Employment, to bring greetings,
thanking donors, and congratulating students individually and presenting
each scholarship winner with a pin.
Media representatives are invited to attend this event.
