Memorial University was founded as a living memorial to those who served in the First World War. It was later re-dedicated to also honour Newfoundland's war dead of the Second World War.
Each year ceremonies of remembrance are held to reflect on the lives lost and the sacrifices made by those who fought for country and future.
Memorial University St. John's, Marine Institute and Grenfell campuses are closed on Nov. 11 to mark Remembrance Day. No classes are scheduled for that day.
The Newfoundland Book of Remembrance is available online.
