Framework for Settlement Reached

The Lecturers’ Union of Memorial University of Newfoundland is pleased to report that after many days of difficult negotiations, we have reached a framework for a settlement for a new Collective Agreement.

Your Bargaining Team will meet with the University this Friday, January 24, 2014, and expects to sign off on the outstanding issues, formally reaching a tentative agreement.

Please note that a RATIFICATION MEETING to vote on the new agreement will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Holiday Inn [180 Portugal Cove Road, St. John’s] (Salon C & D). Special accommodations will be made for those members who are currently (i) teaching by distance AND residing more than 60 kilometres from the St. John’s Campus, (ii) teaching at the Grenfell Campus, or (iii) teaching at the Labrador Institute.

In accordance with LUMUN’s bylaws, a summary of changes to the Collective Agreement will be available on the LUMUN website ( 48 hours before the ratification meeting is held.

Only members in good standing who are teaching this Winter semester are eligible to vote on the Collective Agreement. You become a member in good standing when you sign a membership card, which you will be able to do at the meeting before the vote if you have not already done so.

Per Course Instructors who are not teaching this semester are welcome to attend the meeting as observers.
