Industry Certifications
Many associations in Canada offer professional development (PD) programs—on their own or in collaboration with post-secondary institutions—leading to an industry certification or professional designation.
The Division of Lifelong Learning supports a variety of such association PD initiatives:
- Canadian Risk Management (Risk and Insurance Management Society)
- Certified in Management (Canadian Institute of Management)
- Certified Credit Professional (Credit Institute of Canada)
- CITT Designation (Canadian Institute in Traffic and Transportation)
- Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (Insurance Institute)
- IPMA Certified Professional (International Personnel Management Association)
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (Canadian Payroll Association)
The associations typically make their program requirements
available at a distance; e.g., by correspondence and/or via the
internet. Please contact the associations for details.
In certain cases, an association may accept a Memorial University
degree credit course for transfer equivalency. Again, please
consult the applicable association for details.
On occasion, an association's classes may be taught on campus,
evenings, by an association approved facilitator. The availability
of such classes varies by semester. Please consult the Division's
program developer for details.
