BA, Anthropology, 2011, University of Prince Edward Island

Jamie was born and raised in Labrador between Hopedale and Happy Valley-Goose Bay. He is a lifelong musician and enjoys spending time with his partner Alicia and their two children, Violet and William. He graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island in 2011 and has since worked solely with non-profit, Indigenous organizations such as the Native Council of Prince Edward Island, Sivunivut Inuit Community Corporation, and the Labrador Friendship Centre.

Before joining the Labrador Institute in August of 2017, Jamie worked extensively to improve the lives of Seniors Citizens and Indigenous Peoples of Happy Valley-Goose Bay in his role as Community Outreach Worker at the Labrador Friendship Centre. He continues to do so in a volunteer capacity with various outreach efforts in the Upper Lake Melville area such as the Moose Hide Campaign, Kindness Connection, and the Community Food Hub. Drawing on this experience, Jamie is responsible for building and maintaining strong connections with the people, organizations, businesses, and industries of Labrador in order to forward the LI’s mission of being a leading centre of research, education, policy, and outreach by and for the North.
