About Lisa Rankin
Lisa Rankin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Archaeology at Memorial University, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Her PhD in Anthropology from McMaster University (1998) was based on research into prehistoric farmer-forager interaction in the Bruce Peninsula of southern Ontario. Since her appointment at Memorial in 2000, she has developed a research programme in Labrador dealing with inter-ethnic interactions, from the time of the earliest inhabitants up into the historic period. Her most recent undertaking is a 5 year, multi-disciplinary study of the history of the Labrador Inuit Métis (Nunatukavut) in southern Labrador, incorporating archaeology, ethnography, archival research and genealogy.
