Killick Centre Researchers Win Best Research Paper Award at an International Conference in Dublin

On June 21, 2011 Dr. Dennis Sharpe, Dr. Dale Kirby, and Dr. Michael Barbour (Wayne State University) were honoured with a prestigious award at a major international conference in Dublin, Ireland. Their paper Student perceptions and preferences for tertiary online courses: Does prior high school distance learning make a difference? was selected as the Best Research Paper at the 2011 annual conference of the European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN). Since 2008, EDEN has granted the Best Research Paper Award at its Annual Conferences and the bi-annual Research Workshops. A high standard selection process guarantees the branding of a reputable award for scholarly conference papers in the field of open, distance and e-learning.
The selection process takes place in collaboration with the Ulrich Bernath Foundation for Research in Open and Distance Learning with the support of a distinguished Jury.
In all, 57 conference papers were short-listed and evaluated.

This is the third time Killick Centre researchers have been awarded this honour. In 2008 Drs. Bruce Sheppard and Tim Seifert, with co-author Ann-Marie Vaughan, won in Lisbon, Portugal. In 2010 Oana Radu and Dr. Tim Seifert received the award in Valencia, Spain.
