Memorial welcomes the world
Close to 1,000 students from more than 80 countries have chosen Memorial for their undergraduate and graduate studies, adding greatly to the diversity of our community.
They come to us
from Egypt, Nigeria, the United States, China, Mexico, Germany and
many other locations around the world, in search of an enriching
experience and a chance to become all that they can.
They have found that we offer a warm welcome, a safe environment and a high-quality education to international students.
Memorial is the largest university in Atlantic Canada and one of the country's top five schools for comprehensive course offerings.
It's also one of the most affordable universities in Canada. Undergraduate international students pay about $8,800 a year in tuition fees, much lower than the national average of $13,000.

Memorial's School of Graduate Studies is home to more than 2,300 graduate students enrolled in over 100 graduate diploma, and master's and doctoral degree programs.
If you decide to attend Memorial, we can put you in touch with other international students who are currently studying here. They can give you a first-hand account of what it’s like to live and study in Newfoundland and Labrador.
A community to support you
After you arrive, the people at the International Student Advising office are here to help you.
Our international student advisors are your ambassadors and tour guides, here to help you make the transition from life at home to life in your new home at Memorial.
Meanwhile, students from several countries have formed their own associations and social groups to create stronger connections with their peers.
Study and work abroad
Memorial can help you work or study abroad through a number of programs and courses.
The university's Harlow campus is located about 40 km north of London, England, and every year students and faculty travel from Newfoundland and Labrador to study in this exciting environment.
Semester programs let Arts students take courses toward their degree while they also get the chance to explore nearby Europe.
Business
and Engineering students have the option of getting international
experience during their work terms, while Education students can
complete their teaching
internships in Harlow.
