Schedule for Income tax sessions

2018 Tax Session Dates:

IO staff and volunteers will guide you through your income tax return throughout the months of March and April (see schedule below).

2018 Tax Information Sessions

During this session, we will provide an overview of the income tax program in Canada. It is recommended that you attend one of these sessions if it is your first time filling a tax return in Canada. This is an information session. Registration is not required. Volunteers who wish to help out during the workshops must attend at least one of the information sessions and one of the volunteer training sessions noted below.

Volunteer Training Sessions

If you are interested in volunteering for the tax workshops this year please send an email to stating why you wish to volunteer with the tax program. Please keep in mind if you sign up to volunteer you will have to attend at least one training session and one information session in the month of March. Interested volunteers must show up to one of the two training sessions

In addition volunteers are expected to volunteer in at least 3 out of the 12 workshops in March and April. Please see the Tax Program Schedule below for more information.

Information Sessions

Would you like some general information about the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and the Canadian tax system? If so come to one of our information sessions.

2018 Income Tax Workshops

Any international student requiring assistance with their income tax return may come to a tax workshop to be held at a computer lab. This is a hands on session were you will work to complete your tax return with the assistance of volunteers. Registration is not required. Students must ensure they have the relative documents ready prior to filing their taxes at the workshop. Students should also create an account with UFILE (tax software) prior to coming to a workshop to save time.

*Our income tax workshops for international students normally take place at the Computing Services building or "CS" which located between the Science Building and the Bruneau Centre

Please note: Any student arriving in Canada on January 1, 2018 or later does not need to file a tax return until 2019.
