Atlantic Canadian Education/Industry Mission to Gujarat, India
September 18 to 25, 2014
Led by Memorial University of NL, the mission is intended for Atlantic Canadian education organizations and multi-sector businesses interested in exploring or furthering contacts in India, mainly in the State of Gujarat. Registration is now open but seats are limited. The $500 per delegate fee covers pre-mission delegate support and market orientation, matchmaking (8-10 meetings per delegate), airport transfers, logistics planning, in-market travel and support post-mission follow-up. Delegate support is being provided by a team of Canadian-based and India-based market development experts, each with considerable experience in Canadian-Indian partnership development.
Education: Public and private organizations (universities and colleges) as well as associations are welcome. Priority will be given to organizations that have hosted previous India education familiarization tours to Atlantic Canada. Max 10 delegates.
Industry: Businesses or organizations with interest in one of Gujarat's key sectors: education (private sector), alternative energies, energy storage and transmission, environmental industries, food processing, aquaculture, construction technologies, medical technologies, security technologies, marine and Information technologies. Max 5 delegates.
Gujarat: Gujarat is one of India's most prosperous and business-friendly states, and is often referred to as the economic engine of India with year-over-year, double-digit economic growth for well over a decade. It's commitment to easing the bureaucratic burden for businesses has made the state a sought-after destination for foreign direct investment by several major economies. To support this economic boon, the state has invested heavily in its resource and education bases, and in technology adaptation by its key industries. It is constantly in a global search for leading edge technologies and partnerships that will guarantee its continued rate of prosperity. McCain's Foods' South Asia are one of several prominent Canadian businesses with operations in Gujarat.
Gujarat's prosperity is largely attributed to the visionary stewardship of Chief Minister (Premier equivalent), CM Modi, whose party has recently won national elections making Modi India’s Prime Minister-elect. This bodes well for future business partnerships with Canadian interests.
