International Council for Traditional Music: World Conference
SOUNDshift: A Time for International Music and Dance

In 2007 it was Vienna. In 2009 it was South Africa. But in 2011, the honor of hosting the International Council for Traditional Music goes to St. John's, Newfoundland. For one week, we will have the world at our doorstep: Over 600 delegates representing over 60 countries will converge on the Memorial University campus to offer academic papers, workshops, and films devoted to music and dance practices around the globe.

So, if you've got some time and energy to spare, we'd love to have you join our volunteer team. Maybe you're good with audio-visual technology. Maybe you love meeting new people from different parts of the world. Or maybe you prefer working quietly behind the scenes. Whatever your inclinations, there's probably a task that would fulfill your desires and our needs.

What do you get, besides the once-in-a-lifetime chance to help host this prestigious affair? You'll get a beautifully-designed t-shirt and a free ticket to one of our blockbuster concerts, featuring everything from Cuban salsa to Portuguese fado to Zulu gumboot dancing to Inuit throat-singing too....well, you get the picture! And once all our guests have returned to their own corners of the world, we'll have our own little party. We promise.
