Quirpon - Quilting

Gwen Patey is originally from St. Lunaire-Griquet but has lived in Quirpon for 33 years. She is a masterful quilter who is usually working on two or three quilts at any given time. Gwen makes various kinds of quilts, including traditional pieced designs, but primarily focuses on appliqued Newfoundland Quilts. Many of these are given as gifts, or sold to members of the community. She also makes personalized Wedding Quilts on a commission basis. Here, Gwen discusses life in the region, as well as the designs, methods and materials she uses in her quilting practice.
